Types of Braces

Thanks to advancements in orthodontic technology, Taylor Orthodontics offers patients more brace options than ever. While traditional metal braces remain popular, clear braces and Invisalign aligners provide discreet alternatives. Dr. Andrew Taylor will guide you in choosing the best option for your needs.

Metal Braces

Traditional metal braces are the most common type of braces used today. They are smaller, more comfortable than ever, and constructed of high-grade space-age metal alloys. With metal braces, you have the option of adding colored elastics (rubber bands) for a more unique and colorful smile.

Ceramic Braces

Crafted from transparent material, ceramic braces offer a discreet alternative to the more noticeable metal braces as a subtler option for adults and teens alike. However, these braces demand meticulous oral care due to their larger size and delicate nature. The elastic ties might pick up stains from specific foods or smoking, occasionally requiring more frequent cleaning between orthodontic visits.

Invisalign Aligners

Clear appliances, like Invisalign, use a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners to straighten your teeth. Invisalign is removable, so you are not limited in what you can eat and drink during treatment. Plus, brushing and flossing are less of a hassle, allowing thorough cleaning without navigating around metal brackets or wires. The aligners are comfortable and have no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment.
